Storytime for grownups

On Tuesday night, Joe and I had our first public reading for the Echoes of the Ascended novellas.  And to put it bluntly, we had a blast.

I had never been in BookBuyers before Tuesday night.  The second I walked in, what immediately hit me was how much reading e-books has made me miss a good bookstore.  And make no mistake.  BookBuyers is an AMAZING bookstore.  One, it is huge.  Two, there is just so much good stuff in every single section.  Going to be coming back here a lot.

Beyond their amazing selection though, BookBuyers was incredibly welcoming and supportive.  Thank you to Elizabeth, who shepherded us through the evening.  We were honored to be part of their Author Talks.  We actually have been invited back and so we will be returning to BookBuyers in 2016.  We can’t wait!

Second, a huge thank you to everyone who came out to support us.  You all were amazing.  It was just something really special for Joe and I to be able to get up there and talk about our work, and read from the stories.  You all were awesome.

Reading from the stories was really the highlight for me.  Both my mom and dad were teachers, and both of them knew the value of a good story, both in the classroom and at home.  I learned from them that listening to someone tell a story can be a really special thing.  I used to get a sense of this when I was acting.  But Tuesday night, to be able to share our own stories with friends and strangers alike, was truly something special.

And to everyone who asked about audiobooks, thank you and you have been heard!  Because of your comments, we are going to look into it.  Love the idea, in fact.

All in all, it was an amazing night for us.  We got to share our work with people, and then hang out and talk with them over drinks afterwards.  It was like storytime for grownups, and we can’t wait to do it again.  As we head into 2016, we intend to do something like this each and every month.  We’re going to be out there, hanging out with you and talking about books.  And maybe sharing a pint or two as well.

Thank you again, and we will see you there next time!
