Broken Banners

Today is a big day for us.

Broken Banners is out, and Elinor’s story finally continues!

Duel

Broken Banners is book #2 of the series A Reaper of Stone. It continues Elinor’s journey, as she and Con reunite with an old friend. But like all friends who’ve been apart for a long time, there’s still much there that was once treasured, and there’s much that’s changed.

In the first story, we had Elinor remembering the person she once was. Broken Banners gets the story moving faster, jumping us into the action as she faces new dangers and new enemies, and pushing things further after her encounter in book 1.

The series started as our homage to the great epic high fantasy tales of our youth. But it truly ended up as something more special for us.

It was written in memory of Mark’s mother, who had just passed away, and written as something of a promise for my two daughters, ages 1 and 3, who were just starting their own journeys.

It was a personal project for us. Our very first story in the world of Aedaron. A story of a young woman who’d lost the dreams of her childhood and, through her friends, starts to believe in things again. It’s a classic story. A familiar story.

And in so many ways, it was our story.

It was only 9 months ago we first started talking about the seeds of what would become A Reaper of Stone and the rest of the series in Echoes of the Ascended.

At the time, it was nothing but frustrating rewrites and facing seemingly impossible questions about how to tell our stories, build our world, develop our characters, and then do it all in half the space, then half again, and half again.

9 months later, it’s still frustrating rewrites and facing seemingly impossible questions, but somewhere along the way, something new got added to the mix.

It got fun.

Really really fun.

More than anything, books #2 of all our series felt that way for us, and we think it really shows.

Broken Banners is the first of the books #2.

It’s available now in ebook and paperback on Amazon.

Go get it here.

If you like what you see, we’ve got good news.

There’s more coming.

Lots more.
